France, like other European nations allows the wearing of the headscarf in universities. To reinforce secularism in 2004, France banned the wearing of overt religious symbols in state-run primary and secondary schools. That ban also applies in Alsace-Moselle, even though, for historic reasons, the region escaped a 1905 law separating the church and the state.
Speaking are:
Havva AYDIN, Student, Strasbourg University, in Turkish

Wake up Europe. …
Wake up Europe. Muslims do not want to imilate, they are looking to take over your lands and change your government systems. The hold no respect for ideas such as secularism.

I think that people …
I think that people really should concentrate on more important issues.
Such as this “defamation of religion” thing.
(The UN resolution)
I concider it to be a farce!
I concider it my human right to make fun of religion and no priest, rabbi, imam or some stupid organisation is going to take it away from me.
Let those pieces of cloth be. If they want to wear a headscarf or a tent let them.
I bet that if people wouldn’t give a flying about them they will be gone in few generations.

I dont know why …
I dont know why Turkey would ban scarf.
I don’t see a problem with it, I can understand the Niqab (covering the head but the eyes) but scarf is green light in my opinion.
I’m no muslim nor muslim fan, but come on, that ban is just retarded.

Huh they have very …
Huh they have very strange idea about what secularism means . The state must not promote or favour one religion over another. In other words the state does not recognize people as members of a religion only as citizens and citizens can wear whatever they please on their heads.

I don’t understand …
I don’t understand how the state legislating against clothing specifically because it’s religious can be called secularism. Surely it’s the opposite. If the meaning of secularism has changed to one that RESTRICTS individual freedoms then I can’t call myself a secularist anymore. Whatever happened to the concept of the state leaving religious matters entirely to the individual, not endorsing any and not restricting any that don’t harm others?

“It is something …
“It is something obligatory for a person that believe in Islam as a way to protect and respect modesty.”
When a woman decides to cover her hair with a scarf for whichever reason, that’s one thing.
When she refuses to show her face in public and to have pictures taken, for instance, that’s quite another.
