How exactly does one apply for university admission?
More specifically universities in the US, there’s where it’s my dream to study and settle down one day.
I’ve never seen unis place ads in the newspapers or anything, so how do I know when they’re open for registration? What’s the system like for University Admission in the US? What kind of admission tests to I have to take?
It’s very important to me because I really need to know. Thanks a lot.
Hi,
I’m an intl student. Hope I can help.
First step, I think is collegeboard.com. Go to the college search link, then select your type of school, then your ideal location for that school, possible majors, cost and financial aid, then go to results. Doing the whole process narrows down your search, and stopping at financiad aid gives you a wider range of schools to choose from. As an intl student, your cost should range b/w less than 5,000 to less than 10,000.
If you do well in school and your parents have the money, cos you usually have to show bank statements, etc., then, getting into varsity in the US won’t be a problem. About tests, most schls require the SAT (collegeboard.com) and the TOEFL test (toefl.org). Most intl students write the regular SAT test, not the SAT subject test. You need to really do well in your SAT test cos it usually determines if you get a scholarship or not. The TOEFL test shows you can write and communicate in English.
If you’ve finished High School, and are ready to go to college, it’s probably too late to start applying now for the January 2010 semester, as most universities are closed. So, keep checking the universities websites and apply for the Fall semester (August 2010).
Best wishes!!!
