Does a degree from an Ivy League University grant you a higher salary or privilege over others?

Does an Ivy League education open more doors for employment? What is the average person paid after graduating from an Ivy League University with a degree in science and technology? Is it easy to obtain a career after graduation or is it really difficult?

If you have any references please don’t hesitate to cite your source.

Ivy League educations open the most doors when you make personal contacts with students a few years ahead of you or with alumni/ae. Ivy League bachelor’s degree holders rank at the top nationwide for starting salaries, along with holders of degrees in engineering from top engineering schools. Their mean starting salaries are in the low to mid $70,000s. They are probably higher in science and technology. An engineering degree from an Ivy makes it easier to obtain employment than does a "pure" science degree.

No. You still have to work for it.

There was just an item on the CNN website today that Harvey Mudd College in California is the number one school in terms of graduates’ incomes, both starting and mid-career. It also happens to be a great school!

The best 5 year salary in the USA is for graduates of Harvey Mudd College in the Los Angeles area. Higher than Harvard. An Ivy league degree only helps slightly. Employers are more interested in what you actually know and you do not need Harvard to give you the knowledge.

An Ivy League education will open more doors for you because you will be more likely to have powerful connections and references. Most good jobs are found through social capital and personal connections.
