What is the likely outcome for not paying college tuition for dependent children? I have the money to pay child support for one remaining child from a divorce, but I maybe not be able to continue college tuition for the one child base on my slowing and current economic conditions. Is paying for college a law or a court order?

Only if it it in your divorce and support order….If it isn’t there in writing, you don’t legally have to pay anything towards college. References :

What is specified in your divorce decree?
How far along is the college student? Can they take out loans/work study etc in order to finish? References :

Even if you stipped in writing, you can probably do a post-judgment hearing for a material change in circumstance and get it modified. Don’t delay… References :
