How to write a college admission essay?

I’m really nervous about my essay portion for college applications, I’m graduating High School in the spring so I feel like I have very little time to apply. I’m clueless what I can write about that will actually interest admission leaders.

If it helps: I’d like to be a psychology major, and become sometime of therapist. Possibly a clinical psychologist and work with teens and young children.

Suggestions what to base my college essay about and possible outline please? Very nervous X_X lol Thanks in advance ^_^

College admission essay is something very personal. Writing it should come naturally as you think about your ambitions, aspirations and goals in life. Writing down your dreams in an attracting manner is a good way to write a college A.E. If your goals are high enough then prove it in writing and make the ones reading the essay understand that entering college isn’t a joke for you. Only YOU know what you want so only YOU can write what needs to be written :) good luck!!

She’s right – it is personal. Dont’ be fake and write what you think advisors want to hear because they have probably heard it thousands of times.

No matter what the prompt, I would try to show how you changed as a person, and some personal growth (how you matured in your High School career) in your essay. Maybe you were closed-minded, or had low self-esteem, but you branched out and made something of yourself by senior year.

Don’t afraid to add humor (if that is what your personality is like, and humor that is appropriate).

And a lot of people say to "show" the reader your story and perspectives, not "tell". Meaning, be descriptive and use metaphors to show the reader how you felt rather than directly saying it. A cheesy example: "There was a rain cloud above my head for the rest of the day" vs. "I was sad".
